If you do not have a doctor or healthcare provider, the Florida Department of Health in Clay County offers FREE immunizations to students. For more information please call (904) 529-2800. The Florida State Assessment for students in fifth and sixth grades will begin on Monday, April 13th. Testing will continue through May 4th. The fifth and sixth grade teachers will send home each child’s individual testing schedule. Here are some suggestions to help your child do his or her best on testing days:
¨ Make sure your child gets plenty of rest. According to research, children ages 7 through 12 need at least nine hours of sleep a night.
¨ Feed your child a healthy breakfast with plenty of protein and carbohydrates for “thinking” energy. Avoid sugary or greasy foods the day of the test.
¨ Send your child to school with positive words of encouragement.
¨ If your child wears glasses, make sure he or she doesn’t leave them at home that day!
¨ Make sure your child is wearing comfortable clothes during testing.
¨ Help your child to have a stress free morning! Get them up early enough so they are not rushed.
¨ Make sure your child is at school on time. Your child should be in the classroom by 8:30am. The test will begin soon after the tardy bell rings. Students who arrive after testing has begun will not be admitted to class.
